Hello! I am very excited to be here, so thank you yaydestiny for my invite!

I am... older than I'd like to admit and I reside in Texas with my husband and our daughter. We have a dog named Qwerty, and currently live with my in-laws.

As of late, my life has revolved around continuously tweaking my resume until it is perfect enough for someone to want to hire me, and throwing it into the void and hearing hardly anything back.

No, it's great. My self esteem is *fabulous*...

I have been on message boards for literally decades at this point, and am relatively new to MyBB. I used to use vBulletin back in the day (I still have access to my 3.0 license lol), but wanted to try something new this time around. I've gotten my hands dirty building plugins between also learning Python among other things to help in my job search.

If only we could get paid to RP on boards, right????

Hi everyone! My name is welian and I'm dipping my toes into the self-hosted RP forum game for the first time in over a decade.

I mainly did play-by-post roleplaying on general sites like Gaia Online, RpNation, and Iwaku, and during Covid transitioned to virtual TTRPG games over Discord and Roll20. Most of my RP stuff is over Discord these days, but I miss the era of forums and how much easier they were for loooong posts and finding old information (yeah, like, what DID my character's long lost evil twin say to them in a random thread 3 years ago?).

My current project is a simple MyBB forum for my friends and I where we can host different adventures and campaigns, and have our dice rolls and stuff in posts. I'm finishing up a Fate Condensed campaign now, and my first RP I'll host on my new site is either going to be Lancer or Stars Without Number, whichever one I finish the prep work for first.

I wasn't sure if this forum was still being used, but I thought I'd type up an intro anyway.

S'up, I'm Rev (she/they) and I'm a final year film student who's into horror and well-written morally gray characters. I also happen to do art and occassionally write, though I've taken a step back from RP the last couple of years due to time constraints.

I've never coded anything in MyBB to save my life (I was lucky to only browse forums as a member), but I do dabble in coding so shit's not completely foreign to me in that regard. Just the other day I caved and decided to buy hosting plans to try my hand at MyBB skinning (with a goal of working on an RPG of mine) and now like. 12 hours later I'm sat here, twiddling my thumbs, unsure of what to do, lmaoooo.

Software new, software sparkly. Software daunting.

But yeah! That's all from me! You'll probably see me around asking a lot of questions as I try to figure stuff out.

i've been struggling to learn mybb for close to a year now, and i honestly feel like i am simply not the right sort of person for it. there's a reason i always sucked at math and anything that required me to follow rigid rules, with the smallest mistakes been ruinous.

i wanted to ask, what has been you all's motivation to keep going and learning, especially if you initially or still feel like coding isn't something you're good at?

Hey cats and kittens!

I've been lurking around for a long time on the discord. I started worldbuilding and site building years ago but life got in the way- repeatedly. Finally, it seems like I've become master of enough forces that I'm able to consistently carve out time to write and create once more.

I thought it wise to reintroduce myself. I'm Raps. I'm old and have been around internet text RP since the Yahell Chat days. I may even be looking for someone to partner up with, if one were so inclined, to help knock off some rust from these antiquated metal bones.

Lil' 'bout me:
I'm married.
We have four young'ns (two oldest are boys, two youngest are girls aged 10,6,4.5,1).
We have an amazing dog.
I'm a maintenance mechanic for a huge facility and get paid rather absurdly to fix things.
I love to read, write, camp, hunt, fish, hike, bike and game.
Gaming needs broken down a bit - PC stuff: mostly RTS but some party-based crawlers and shooters make my list. I also play Warhammer, board games, cards and DnD on table top cause nothing beats the real thing.

I'm rather close to opening a beta for my RP site which I won't mind showing off once I get a little more done with it. By done- I'm referring to lore and such as coding is not my strong suit.

Coming from over a decade of Jcink rpgs, there's a lot of culture shock going on in that ACP, but I'm not planning on giving up any time soon. Even if the number of times I've had to google something very simple may be a bit embarrassing at this point ? I've also got a sci-fi site on the way! Hopefully I won't get eaten by some rogue CSS strand before I finish it, 'cause that would just be a shame.
